You
will find this beautiful wine restaurant in the street Dlouhá
třída
("Long street") No.
735/25,
only a few steps from Old Town Square. Its vaulted
Roman restaurant comes from
13th
Century.
Approximately 200 years later a civic house was
constructed on those foundations. Subsequently a
malting and beer brewery was founded here. In 1403,
Louis
from Florentia
inherited the brewery from his father-in-law,
Ješek
Mošek.
In
1457
the house was bought by
Štepán
(Stephen)
Krkavec.
"Krkavec" means "the raven" in
Czech. That is how the house got the name U
Krkavců
("At
the Raven's").
In
the beginning of the 17th
Century
this house belonged to
Jan
Oršinovský from Fürstenfeld.
After the Czech Estates lost the battle of Bílá hora
against Habsburgs, Oršinovský was condemned "to
lose his neck, honour and property" and was
executed on June 21., 1621 on the Old Town Square.
The
wine restaurant offers meals of the warm and cold kitchen.
Its ows specialities as Oldbohemian Beefsteak, Filet
Mignon, Porkfilet and soup "Krkavec". It
also offers traditional Czech specialities as Roasted
duck, Milk rabbit thigh and Lambsteak. The sweet offer
covers warm pastries, the Prague pancake filled with
ice-cream and fresh fruit, and a cake filled with
apricots.
The atmosphere is grounded by live gypsy band. |
